Body found along railroad tracks in Leonidas area

The body of an unidentified man was found along the railroad tracks in the Leonidas area. An older man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a train, according to out partners at Nola.com/The Times Picayune.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The body was found on the tracks near Leake Avenue and Monroe Street. Officials were alerted of the incident around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators believe the victim was struck by a locomotive in the early morning hours. The victim died on the scene.

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages. Details to come.
