LSU, Tulane pulling in banner recruit classes

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - High school football players around the area are taking part in national signing day making for a nervous day for college football fans.

They call it the Super Bowl of recruiting, it's national signing day. Kids around the country finally put pen to paper. LSU, once again has a strong recruiting class.

The big name in LSU's star-studded class is Warren Easton's Tyron Johnson. The top wide receiver in the country helped Warren Easton make it to the state championship game for the first time since the 1950s. This is the second year in a row LSU grabbed the top wideout in the nation. Last year it was Malachi Dupre.

Another five-star recruit playing for the Tigers this fall is "Mr. Do-Everything" Donte' Jackson. The Riverdale Rebel can play wide receiver, cornerback, and contribute on returns. LSU sees him playing primarily at cornerback. He is the first Riverdale star on scholarship in football that many fans can recall.

Tulane's three wins didn't hamper Coach Curtis Johnson from pulling in another banner class for the Wave. There is no quarterback in this year's class, but who needs one when you have Tanner Lee. The Jesuit product is getting some new targets this fall to pump up his numbers.
