HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - A 17-year-old woman turned herself in to Jefferson Parish authorities on Thursday after being named as an accessory to a 2014 murder in Harvey.
Chammpel LeVangie, 17, turned herself in on Thursday at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. She was wanted on an outstanding warrant for accessory after the face to second degree murder.
LeVangie was named by Markeisha Lewis. Lewis, 24, was arrested at her home on Wednesday by the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force. She was wanted on a warrant from Jefferson Parish for knowing about the death of 34-year-old Demone Robinson, who was shot and killed June 27 on Inca Drive in Harvey.
During questioning, investigators said Lewis confessed to being with LeVangie and Raynell Whittaker, both 17, immediately after Robinson's murder. Lewis was jailed at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
Whittaker was later found to be incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Prison since August 13, 2014 on armed robbery charges. Whittaker will be rebooked on the pending arrest warrant from Jefferson Parish
