Police question person of interest in fatal NOE shooting

The NOPD is questioning a person of interest in the Thursday shooting death of a 29-year-old male in New Orleans East.

The incident happened outside a business parking lot in the 7500 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

At approximately 12:02 p.m., police responded to a call of a male down outside the gate of a car repair lot. When officers arrived, they found the victim fatally shot lying on the ground next to a fence.

Detectives are questioning a person of interest and the investigation is ongoing.

The coroner will release the identity of the victim after notification of family members and will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
