Argument over cigarettes leads to Lower Garden District knife fight

Police say that an argument over cigarettes ended in a stabbing in the Lower Garden District.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

Officers say that 36-year-old Tyrone Edwards stabbed a 39-year-old victim multiple times. A verbal argument tuned physical in a disagreement over cigarettes, police say.

Edwards was booked on an aggravated battery charge Friday morning. The victim's condition is unknown at this time.
