NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrested a man in connection with a murder Thursday outside a car body repair shop in New Orleans East.

Officers arrested 38-year-old Woodrow Johnson for allegedly shooting and killing 29-year-old Joshua Jackson.

The incident happened in the 7500 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Police found the victim shot multiple times lying on the ground next to a fence. Jackson died on the scene.

Johnson and his attorney met with detectives, but he did not give a statement. NOPD says it located a handgun possibly used in the killing when it served a search warrant on a residence.

Johnson was booked into Central Lock-Up and booked with one count of second-degree murder.
