Ponchatoula banker pleads guilty to embezzlement

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A 70-year-old Ponchatoula woman faces 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty to embezzlement charges.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite announced Friday that Frances Carrington pleaded guilty to a one-count bill of information for bank larceny.

The Department of Justice says according to court documents, Carrington tried to steal nearly $65,000 from First Guaranty Bank in Ponchatoula while he was working there.

U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier set a sentencing date of May 14, 2015.
