NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A couple suspected of robbing a cab driver at gunpoint and stealing his vehicle was caught on surveillance video.

The incident happened on February 6. Police say that a cab driver picked up a couple, a male and a female, around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Canal Street and Bourbon Street.

The couple allegedly entered the cab and requested to be taken to the 100 block of South Telemachus Street. As the cab driver arrived at the location, police say the male suspect produced a handgun and demanded cash from the driver.

The driver complied, at which time the couple instructed to driver to exit the cab. The suspects fled the scene in the cab. Officers say that the cab was recovered a short time later in the 300 block of S. Clark Street.

The male suspect has been described as a black male, approximately 5'9” tall. The female suspect was described as a black female, approximately 5'9” tall.
