(WVUE) - LSU ended their losing streak Saturday with a 71-60 victory over Alabama and began turning the page to Tuesday's visit from the country's unanimous No. 1 team, undefeated Kentucky.
The Wildcats came to Baton Rouge ranked 11th last January and were upset by a young Tigers team 87-82. LSU is expecting its largest crowd of the season, a factor that coach Johnny Jones will invigorate his team.
"Any time you've got a sell out, I think it's always good," Jones said. "But the energy the crowd has given us the last few games has been very healthy for us. But we just have to keep doing our part, because our crowd has done theirs."
LSU's front court duo of Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey will face a tough test against a Kentucky team full of NBA-caliber height. Martin also looks to the fans as a source of motivation.
"Very excited to be playing in a sold-out game," Martin said. "We definitely want to show them what we're capable of. I believe in my teammates."
Tip-off from the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Tuesday is set for 6 p.m.
