Detectives investigate alleged burglary at Peralta office

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a theft at the government complex reported by parish President David Peralta on Monday.

Peralta told deputies that the burglary of his office took place sometime between 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 6. The police report says an 18-page audit from IT company Network Logic was missing from Peralta's desktop, and two CDs with the same information as the audit were missing from one of his desk drawers.

The parish CAO told detectives that when he left the complex on Feb. 5, Peralta's office door was closed but he didn't know if it was locked. He said the office's main door was locked.

A review of the use of access cards to get into the building showed no unusual activity, and there was no forced entry into the complex, the police report said.

There are no surveillance cameras near Peralta's office, the report said.

The investigation was turned over to the St. Bernard Detective Bureau.
