Pelicans focused on playoffs despite injuries and setbacks

Associated Press Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Monty Williams held his final practice before the NBA All-Star break on Tuesday as the Pelicans prepare to host the Pacers Wednesday.

Playing without Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson, New Orleans lost to the Jazz, 100-96. Eric Gordon led the team with a season-high 31 points and remains optimistic that the team can make a playoff push.

"We've beaten a lot of good teams - we've beaten all of them - all the top teams. But the thing is, we lost to some of the worst teams as far as record, and as long as we stay consistent, we can be there. That's all I can say is that it's all about keeping the same, maintaining wins."

The Pelicans have already announced that Anderson (right elbow sprain) will not play against Indiana, while Anthony Davis is listed as questionable for the 7 p.m. tip. He was voted a starter for Sunday's All-Star Game.

It's an ending that's still hard to comprehend. But lost in the aftermath of the Saints chaotic loss to the vikings Sunday was the fact that the Vikings still had to kick the extra point.
