(WVUE) - New Orleans is getting ready to host another global sporting event as the IndyCar series is getting set for its inaugural race in the Big Easy.
The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana is slated for April 10-12, the second stop on the tour.
On Tuesday, several drivers were in town to test the track at NOLA Motorsports Park, including Indianapolis 500 champion Juan Pablo Montoya who urges New Orleanians to come check out the action.
"If you're in New Orleans and you want to go to an awesome event, it doesn't get much better than this," he said. "You're going to get close to the cars, close to the fans, the drivers get close. As a fan, you can go there, ask for autographs, see the drivers, see the races and it's amazing. It doesn't matter where you stand on the track, you can see the whole thing."
