Man returns with gun after being barred from Marigny club

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A man who was denied entrance to a Marigny nightclub returned with a sawed-off shotgun and fired into the air, according to New Orleans police.

The incident occurred Feb. 5 at about 10:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Frenchmen Street.

Police said the man tried to get into the club, and we he couldn't, he left on a bicycle. He returned a short time later, parked the bike and stood in the street for a few minutes. Video surveillance then shows him pulling a weapon from his clothing and firing it. He then got back on the bike and fled down Frenchman toward Decatur Street.

The suspect was described as a black male with a Jamaican accent in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5'11" tall with a medium build. He was unshaven with heavy stubble and had short hair. He was wearing a black sports coat, black slacks and black shoes.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect has a nickname of Lexie or Lexxy.
