Man killed in Livingston Parish crash

LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - State police say a 55-year-old Baton Rouge man died in a single vehicle accident in Livingston Parish.

Trooper Jared Sandifer identified the victim as Louis Gurka III.

Sandifer says Gurka was northbound on Louisiana Highway 63 Thursday night when his SUV ran off the road, hit a culvert and rolled over several times.

He says Gurka was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV.

Sandifer says Gurka was pronounced dead at a Baton Rouge hospital.

He says driver impairment may have been a factor in the crash. He says a toxicology sample was taken from Gurka and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
