SWAT roll in N.O. East ends peacefully

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A SWAT roll ended peacefully Friday after a man who had barricaded himself in a New Orleans East motel room surrendered to police.

The suspect, 37-year-old Bobby Hammond, held police at bay for hours in the 7800 block of Chef Menteur Highway after damaging another motel guest's property.

Chef Menteur was closed in both directions while officers negotiated with Hammond, who was found to be unarmed.

Hammond surrendered just after 3 p.m. He will be booked into Central Lockup with making threats, criminal damage to property and a parole violation.
