Suspect identified in New Orleans East robbery

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police have identified one of the two suspects accused of committing an armed robbery in New Orleans East.

According to NOPD, Ashley Wooten is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred in the 12300 block of the I-10 service road on Jan. 18.

According to police, the 25-year-old male victim said he was smoking a cigarette in the parking lot of an apartment complex  around 10:30 p.m. when he was approached by Wooten. According to the victim, an unknown man walked up while he was talking to Wooten and demanded his money, implying he had a gun.

The victim gave up $160 in cash, then the male suspect ordered the victim to get in a car with Wooten and go to an ATM to get more cash. Wooten drove him to an ATM in the 7000 block of Bullard Avenue where the victim withdrew $200 in cash and gave it to her. She then drove him back to the apartment complex and fled in a black SUV with the other suspects.

The unidentified male suspect is described as a black male with a muscular build and light complexion last seen wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.
