Argus, Zulu meet for traditional Lundi Gras toast

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A decades-long tradition continues as the courts of Argus and Zulu meet for a traditional Lundi Gras toast.

King Argus 2015 Johnny Matesich and his queen Madeline Quad Cvitanovich greeted Zulu King Pete Sanchez Jr. and his wife, Janice Sanchez, on Monday afternoon.

The Krewe of Argus of Metairie and the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club of New Orleans toasted each other. The traditional toast took place in Rivertown, in the 400 block of Williams Boulevard across from the Exhibition Hall.

Kenner's Mayor Michael S. Yenni and the Kenner City Council were on hand to toast the courts at the free event.

Last year, an estimated 1,000 people enjoyed Lundi Gras, and an early, favorable weather forecast could mean an even bigger crowd this year.
