(WVUE) - Saturday's dominant pitching performance by LSU freshman right-hander Alex Lange has earned him SEC Freshman of the Week recognition.
The Missouri native held Kansas scoreless in five innings, allowing just two hits and a walk to go with seven strikeouts. He totaled 71 pitches and did not allow a runner to advance past second base.
The pitching staff as a whole was a high point, according to coach Paul Mainieri "I thought Poche and Lange were outstanding and I think Godfrey wasn't as dominating as those other guys but I thought he showed well for himself. I thought what was really important was Jesse Stallings and what he showed us he could do at the end of the game. In our league, you can't win if you don't have somebody that can get the last out and he did it twice."
