JP boots truck float after fighting, smoking on board

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

A truck float in the Krewe of Jefferson was removed from Tuesday's parade in Metairie, after riders were caught fighting and smoking.  Truck Float #35 caught the attention of Jefferson Parish fire inspectors, who reportedly witnessed two riders smoking on the float.  They stopped the float near the intersection of Causeway and Veterans Blvd. and ordered the riders off the float.

At the same time, the JP Parade Marshal/Director of Citizens' Affairs Sean Burke saw additional riders on the same float fighting.  At that time they ordered the truck float removed and escorted it from the parade line-up.

Smoking is prohibited on floats. This incident will be reviewed and it will be determined if further action will be taken.
