NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A costumed-couple tied the knot on Fat Tuesday in front of thousands of Mardi Gras revelers.
Joshua Bouchon and Mary Rubio have a unique story to tell. The couple marched with the Krewe of Zulu on Tuesday morning. As they approached Gallier Hall, the couple was officially married in the middle of St. Charles Avenue.
“By the power ordained by me in Orleans Parish and the most northern banana republic, you are now married. You may kiss the bride,” the minister said. Deafening cheers filled the air from nearby revelers.
Why did the couple decide to wed in the middle of a Mardi Gras parade? The newlyweds said a Carnival wedding was the perfect expression of their love.
“Why not get married like this,” said Mary Rubio. “This is the perfect embodiment of our relationship!”
