(WVUE) - In 2014, Southeastern won two of three over Tulane, but the Green Wave's new head coach, David Pierce, has a more successful record against the Lions, going 7-4 during his time with Sam Houston State.
Both teams had successful opening weekends as Tulane won their series at Pepperdine and Southeastern is 4-0 after beating Jackson State, 19-10, on Tuesday.
Pierce's last game against the green and gold was a Southland Conference tournament loss but he hopes to reverse his fortunes and those of his new team Wednesday night in Hammond.
"We're very familiar with Southeastern," he said. "They were in our conference the last three years, we played them 11 times in those three years. They're very aggressive, they're going to try to put pressure on us, they're going to pitch really well and they're a local team that is well coached by coach Riser, and they just do an outstanding job so it's going to be another challenge for us."
First pitch from Alumni Field is set for 6 p.m. FOX 8 news at 10 p.m. will have highlights.
