St. Martin's names Scott Simpson new head coach

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

St. Martin's Episcopal School announced Wednesday that Scott Simpson has been hired as the Saints' head football coach.

The Brother Martin and LSU alumnus has over 20 years of coaching experience, including the last ten seasons as offensive coordinator at Holy Cross.  He will also coach boys and girls' track and field, in addition to serving as the school's in-house weight lifting and conditioning instructor.

“I am most grateful for the opportunity to have spent the past thirteen years coaching football at Holy Cross and am now ready and excited to take the next step in my career as the Head Football Coach at St. Martin's Episcopal School,” Simpson said. “My expectations for my players will be for us to work together as a team, maintain a strong work ethic, and fully commit to making the St. Martin's football program successful, both on and off the field.”

"I am thrilled to have Coach Simpson join our athletic department,"Athletic Director Blair Harrison said. "He has all the qualities we were looking for in a head football coach; his many years in education, outstanding coaching experience, deep understanding of the game, experience with implementing training programs, and ability to attract and develop strong athletes will assure our team's future success.
