1 killed, 1 injured in New Orleans East shooting

One person was killed Wednesday and another was injured just a block away from a double shooting that occurred Mardi Gras night during a party.

Wednesday's shooting happened in the 5100 block of Lakeview Court in New Orleans East. 42-year-old Charles Robinson sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene. Police said a female victim was found inside a home with a gunshot wound to the body. She was taken to the hospital but her condition is not known.

Tuesday's shooting took place at about 11:45 p.m. in the driveway of a home in the 5200 block of Lakeview Court. Witnesses say they were at a party when several people became involved in a verbal altercation. During the fight, witness said a short, black male wearing a black jacket began shooting.

An 18-year-old male was found shot in the foot and temple. A short time later, another 18-year-old male arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest, buttocks, legs and groin.
