Portion of Magazine Street closed for road excavation

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A two-block stretch of Magazine Street is closed until further notice.

The Sewerage and Water Board put out a notice Thursday afternoon, saying workers needed to excavate the road to look at the infrastructure underneath.

The board says the 2500 and 2600 blocks of Magazine, between Second and Fourth, will be closed until further notice. Drivers will not be able to be cross Magazine at Third Street.

The board did not give any kind of at time estimate for the work, only saying the road will be closed until further notice.

The popular Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day parade is slated to March through the area in just three weeks. This stretch of Magazine is also an important route to through the Garden District to get both uptown and downtown.
