NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Icy weather canceled more than 1,000 flights out of Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport Monday, causing a ripple at Armstrong International Airport. A handful of flights to DFW and Love Field were scratched during the morning hours as freezing rain fell on the area.
Passengers say they've been trying to figure out other ways to get home, but there aren't many options.
"We're trying to get maybe to Kansas City, that's about a two and a half-hour drive to Des Moines or Omaha which is about a two hour drive," says passenger Jean Ingersoll. "But the problem is wherever we can get to, getting a flight out of there."
"Everything's frozen," says Anthony Lynch of California. "They booked me out tomorrow morning but they still don't know if it's going to be open so I'm booked on a hope."
Passengers say they hope to find a hotel room for the night and try to fly out again Tuesday.
