Police: Man wanted for stealing wallet at cell phone store

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police are searching for a man wanted for stealing a wallet at a cell phone store. The incident occurred Friday at 10:20 a.m. at the Boost Mobile store located in the 3100 block of Gentilly Boulevard.

According to police, the victim, who is an employee of the store, took his wallet out and placed it on a counter while assisting a customer. While helping the customer, he turned his back to the counter for a short period of time. After being helped by the employee, the customer left the store and drove away in a silver Nissan Altima.

Once the customer drove away, the employee noticed that his wallet was missing. He checked store surveillance footage and saw that the customer taking the wallet.

The customer is described as an African-American man, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds.
