NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An iconic roller coaster makes its return to City Park this weekend.
The Ladybug roller coaster will once again thrill visitors at the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.
FEMA paid $1.4 million to renovate the ride damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
We spoke to the park's Chief Operating Officer Rob DeViney back in December and he explained some of the changes visitors will see. "First of all, the technology has changed dramatically since the late 80s when the first one was installed. There's a tremendous amount of safety features that are added to it. From the excitement standpoint, it's about four stories tall and travels at speeds almost 40 miles an hour, so it's a little bit faster and higher than the old Ladybug roller coaster, but it's a family attraction. All ages can ride," DeViney said.
Our partners at NOLA.com/The Times Picayune report the roller coaster will reopen Saturday, February 28th at 11 a.m.
