NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Government offices and schools will be closed across Louisiana on Tuesday due to wintry weather conditions that started hitting Louisiana on Monday.
Sleet, freezing rain and snow struck many places in Louisiana on Monday, prompting officials to close schools, roads and bridges. The conditions were worst in northern Louisiana and there were reports of numerous road accidents due to the wintry conditions there.
There were also reports of power outages due to the wintry weather.
The National Weather Service forecast dangerous travel conditions would continue into Tuesday. Road crews, meanwhile, were working to keep the road de-iced, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
