Vandalism, burglary closes Pointe aux Chenes school

POINTE AUX CHENES, LA (WVUE) -

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary at Pointe aux Chenes Elementary School, according to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

TPSO received a complaint from school officials early Tuesday morning saying that the school had been burglarized the previous night. Deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators found multiple buildings on the campus had been burglarized, and items including windows and furniture in classrooms were damaged and destroyed. The school also reported several computers missing.

Because of the extensive damage, school officials closed school for the day.

TPSO has been investigating a series of burglaries of the school's snack shack throughout the past month, as well.

If anyone has any information about these crimes, please contact TPSO at 876-2500 or Crimestoppers for a reward at (800) 743-7433.
