TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested four juveniles for burglarizing an elementary school in Montegut. The incident occurred Monday night at Pointe aux Chenes Elementary.
Police say that detectives learned during their investigation that multiple laptops were taken during the burglary. They also found three large windows that were broken in addition to broken windows on doors in 15 classrooms. Several damaged computers, as well as, spilled food and drinks were also found in several areas throughout the school. Detectives are still working to determine the amount in damage caused.
Detectives arrested the four juveniles responsible and during questioning, they admitted to the theft and damage caused to the school. They also admitted to being responsible for burglarizing the school's snack shop which occurred earlier in the month of February.
Each juvenile was charged with two counts of simple burglary; one for the school and the other for the snack shop. Detectives also learned that a fifth juvenile played a role in the snack shop burglary and he too was charged. All were booked in the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
Due to their age, police did not release the names of the juveniles but say that they live in Pointe aux Chenes and Montegut and that their ages range from 12-16.
The investigation into the incident continues and police say that additional arrests are expected.
