CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - Attorneys for St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta argued in court that they want documents in his sexual assault case sealed.
The hearing Wednesday at the St. Bernard courthouse was expected to revolve around whether or not St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta violated a gag order in his sex assault case.
That matter was essentially tabled until next Tuesday. In the meantime, lawyers with the Attorney Generals office said the court should expect a superseding indictment against Peralta before his sex assault trial in April. The lawyers said "it is 99 percent likely".
The AG's counsel says the investigation has escalated since the state got a hold of new evidence over the past few weeks.
The rest of the WWednesday'shearing revolved around how the trial is being reported in the press. The defense became upset they have not had a chance to respond to certain allegations in court filings. The judges solution is to allow the defense to response with filings of their own that will be part of the public record.
