JPSO arrests suspect connected to fatal shooting outside of Metairie bar

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection to a fatal shooting outside of a Metairie bar.

Anthony Miskell, 22, of Marrero, was booked Wednesday into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a weapon and obstruction of justice.

Deputies said Miskell admitted to firing at the men who shot and killed Darren Dedeaux, 22 on Saturday night outside of Mojo's bar in the 2900 block of Cleary Avenue.

Deputies first received reports of a shooting around 2:10 a.m. Officers arriving on the scene say they found a large crowd in the parking lot. Spent bullet cases littered the scene and a nearby business, two apartments and three vehicles were hit by gunfire.

Nearly 20 minutes later, officers say Dedaux arrived at East Jefferson Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to University Hospital, where he later died.

Around 4:20 a.m., police say a second victim arrived at Ochsner Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. He has been identified as 24-year-old man. Officers say they do not know if he was the intended victim or if he was caught in the crossfire.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Jefferson Parish Investigations Bureau at (504) 364-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
