CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - Two individuals have been arrested after shots were fired in a Chalmette Wal-Mart parking lot early Monday morning. Officers are also searching for a person of interest in the case.
Deputies say that shots were fired outside of the store, located in the 8100 block of W. Judge Perez Drive, around 2 a.m. Monday.
Officials with the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office say that two men exchanged words while at the cash register inside of the store. The men exited the building and allegedly entered their vehicles.
Detectives say surveillance video shows a couple enter a white four-door Nissan Titan pick-up truck, while an unknown man entered a gray Honda Crossover.
As the Honda began to leave the parking, police say the Nissan's side door opened and shots were fired at the Honda.
Christoff Williams, 35, and Dimesha Ramsey, 27, have been identified as the couple in the Nissan. Both were arrested Wednesday evening and booked with attempted second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.
Officers say handguns believed used in the shooting were recovered at the home of Williams and Ramsey, as well as an assault rifle and ammunition.
Both are being held in the St. Bernard Parish Prison.
No bond has been set for Williams pending an appearance before a judge. Ramsey is being held in lieu of $200,000 bond set Thursday morning.
Detectives are searching for the driver of the Honda as a person of interest in the cast. Officers say the unknown man has a beard and wore a large square-faced watch or band on his left wrist.
Anyone with information about the identity of the unknown man is asked to contact the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office at (504) 271-2501 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
