Man pulls firearm on deputies during narcotics investigation, officers say

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE)- Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says a suspect pulled a firearm on a deputy before an arrest.

On Tuesday, deputies conducted a narcotics investigation on Livingston Street in Albany, Louisiana. 

Investigators say 36-year-old Joseph Wascom arrived at a home in the area, saw a deputy and pulled a gun from the waistband of his pants. Deputies were able to get the gun after a brief struggle. Wascom allegedly dropped bags of individually packed meth with a total street value worth of $3,850. In a press release, LPSO also recovered weighing scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Investigators say the gun Wascom was carry was reported stolen.

Deputies also arrested 32-year-old Roy Hart, who was a passenger inside Wascom's vehicle. Hart allegedly had full knowledge of the illegal drugs.
