NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Crimestoppers announced Wednesday that it has increased the reward for information on the whereabouts of a man accused in the shooting deaths of a mother and her 8-year-old daughter. The organization is offering $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
Police are searching for 25-year-old Dwayne K. Martin who has been named as the lone suspect in the murders of 25-year-old Walesha Williams and her daughter, Paris Williams.
The two were shot, along with another woman, just before 1 a.m. Tuesday in 14500 block of Duane Road in New Orleans East. Walesha Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Paris Williams was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said the injuries to the third person are not life-threatening, and she is currently recovering in the hospital.
According to NOPD, Martin was identified as the lone suspect after witnesses positively identified him through a photographic line-up. He is believed to have been in a romantic relationship with Williams at the time of the incident.
Martin faces two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
