NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A guy who has been a staple in the Saints offense for a number of years, is on his way out. FOX 8 Sports confirms that the Saints are releasing running back Pierre Thomas.
Thomas, who ranks fourth on the franchise's all-time rushing leaders list, is entering his ninth year in the NFL. He has been with the team since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He is also looked upon as one of the most respected leaders in the locker room.
The move would save the cash strapped Saints $1.7 million.
