NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Mayor Mitch Landrieu and city officials on Wednesday unveiled a plan to create recreation and job opportunities for young people in New Orleans this summer.
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission will offer 39 youth camps and 10 camps for teenagers. The NOLA Youth Works program plans to serve 1,000 young people between the ages of 13 and 21 with five program offerings. NOLA Youth Works partners with companies and organizations to offer summer employment opportunities.
The city has committed $3 million to the summer programs. Parents can start registering kids for the youth camps on Saturday, March 7.
