JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Residents do not have to worry about red light traffic cameras returning, according to Jefferson Parish President John Young.
Young says the Jefferson Parish Council suspended enforcement of the program in January 2010 following complaints from citizens. The company Redflex, however, says the parish signed a contract and continues to fight that decision.
Young says the parish has no intention of re-activating the system despite some recent movement at a circuit court of appeals.
"There was a remand six months ago to check on facts - check on legalese to go back to trial to look into procedural complaints .That's where it stands right now as far as my understanding," said Young.
Young said he could not comment more on the situation because it is still working through the legal process.
