NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - One of New Orleans' own is among the top eight guys still alive in the battle to become the next American Idol. Quentin Alexander has gone from outsider to frontrunner.
Alexander had to wait until the final moments of Wednesday night's episode to hear his name called, but once he strode to the stage and grabbed the microphone in Detroit, there was little doubt about where he comes from and where he belongs.
The quiet, authentic McDonogh 35 grad has wowed the audience and the judges with a unique flair. On Wednesday, his rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" showed he wants even more.
The audience decides whether or not he will advance further, but he already has the judges' overwhelming support.
Mississippi's Michael Simeon did not make the cut. He was eliminated from the competition last night.
