HOUSTON, LA (WVUE) - Terrebonne Parish detectives arrested a Houma man Friday for breaking into cars in the Southland Mall parking lot.
In the past two weeks, TPSO deputies responded to the mall during the early morning for several vehicle burglaries where purses were stolen. On Friday, deputies were called to the mall again at about 6:30 a.m. after another car burglary.
Shortly after, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Bayou Blue Road. During questioning, the suspect, 50-year-old Patrick Stevenson, confessed to going to the Southland Mall on three separate occasions during which he threw bricks through car windows and stole purses, the Sheriff's Office said. Investigators said Stevenson also admitted to using the stolen credit cards at local convenient stores after committing the burglaries.
Stevenson was booked with three counts of simple burglary, unauthorized use of access cards, operating a vehicle with under an expired license and having a switched license plate. He remains in the Terrebonne Parish Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
