NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An arrest warrant is out for a Jefferson woman accused of stealing money from a former employer.
According to New Orleans Police, 39-year-old Michelle Bufkin worked for Audubon Dermatology on Prytania Street, and on Dec. 3, 2014, stole a key for the safe from another employee. Police said she then used it to steal more than $900 in cash. They say when her employer learned of the incident, she was fired.
The investigation revealed that Bufkin tried to fabricate a patient bill in an effort to cover up the stolen money. Detectives said following this and other evidence, an arrest warrant was secured. They plan to book her with theft once she is found.
Anyone who knows where police can locate Bufkin is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
