(WVUE/FOX) - Being too reliant on smartphones could make people less inclined to use their brain.
Researchers assessed the thinking styles and smartphone use of more than 600 people to compare analytical and intuitive thinkers. Intuitive thinkers tend to use their gut feelings when making decisions, while analytical thinkers give much more thought to solve problems.
Researchers found intuitive thinkers tended to use their smartphone's search engine more frequently to find answers, rather than use their own brain. They concluded that smartphones enable intuitive thinkers to be lazier thinkers than normal, which could have serious consequences on your brain as you age.
The team urges further research to study how smartphones affect human thought behaviors.
The findings appear in the journal "Computers in Human Behavior."
