Health officials urge people who have not been vaccinated for measles to do so now.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 173 cases so far this year. The CDC said cases have been reported in 17 states and Washington, D.C. from the beginning of this year to March 6th. Nearly 75 percent of the cases are linked to the Disneyland outbreak that started in December. There have been no reported cases in Louisiana.
The U.S. had a record number of measles cases last year with 644 reported in 27 states.
