NOPD: Bat-wielding, gun-toting sisters arrested in NOE attack

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Two sisters were arrested Monday in connection with an aggravated assault in New Orleans East.

Twenty-year-old Reginique Brown and 25-year-old Calviona Brown are accused of attacking two women at at the intersection of Lake Forest Boulevard and Bundy Road.

At around 10 a.m., a 30-year-old woman told police that she and her 32-year-old sister were talking in a parking lot when they were approached by the Browns and a verbal altercation ensued. The victim said that she and her sister got into her car and tried to drive away when Calviona struck the car with a baseball bat while Reginique pointed a gun at them. The victim said she continued driving and the sisters followed them in a Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed.

The suspects eventually lost control of the car and crashed into a fence near the intersection Crowder Boulevard and the North I-10 Service Road.

The victim was on the phone with police while the pair was following them. Seventh District Officers arrived at the crash site within minutes and immediately took the Brown into custody.

Calviona Brown was charged with aggravated assault with a bat; Reginique Brown was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
