GRETNA, LA (WVUE) - Former Destrehan High School teacher Shelley Dufrense had a status hearing Wednesday morning (March 11), on charges for having sex with a 16-year-old student, according to Nola.com | The Times-Picayune.
According to the 24th Judicial District Court, a new hearing was set for May 8.
The 32-year-old, of Montz, was not required to attend the hearing. Her attorney, Jim Williams, declined to comment.
Dufresne must wait longer to learn whether she faces charges in Jefferson Parish. The Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office has made no decision on if or when it will charge Dufresne for allegedly having sex with the same teenager in Kenner last year.
Back in October, Dufresne and another Destrehan teacher, 24-year-old Rachel Respess, of Kenner, were booked with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Kenner police said those activities happened in Respess's apartment. Jefferson Parish prosecutors have not made a decision in Respess's case, either.
She has another status hearing set for April 30. In St. Charles Parish, Dufresne is charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Her trial in that case is set for May 20.
