NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - It took weeks for investigators to catch up with a man suspected of trying to kill his son in New Orleans East.

They booked Clayton Mays Wednesday morning with one count of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Mays is accused of shooting his 16-year-old son Feb. 22.

Investigators say the teenager suffered a graze wound when Mays fired a gun three times during an argument with his estranged girlfriend.
