Fugitive wanted for shooting dog arrested in South Carolina

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Investigators say Nashawhan Thompson has been arrested and booked as a fugitive in Union, S.C. Police says he was wanted in New Orleans for allegedly shooting at two people, and shooting and injuring a dog.

Police say on Dec. 23, at around 8:30 a.m., a woman and man were walking out of their home when they saw a car approaching the intersection of Dixon and Hamilton Street in New Orleans. The victims told police the car stopped and three men jumped out and started shooting at them. The victims said they ran back to their house and the suspects followed, still firing.

The victims told police they made it into the house safely, but one of the suspects fired shots into the home, striking a dog that was locked in a kennel. The victims were not injured in the shooting. The dog was shot twice but survived.

Two of Thompson's alleged accomplices, 21-year-old Desmond Horton and 18-year-old Jaylon Johnson, were arrested on Dec. 27.

Once Thompson is extradited to New Orleans, he will be booked with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and aggravated damage to property.
