Infamous murder suspect Robert Durst arrested in New Orleans
Robert Durst, real-estate heir and subject of the HBO series “The Jinx,” has been arrested in New Orleans on an out-of-state warrant.

According to Louisiana State Police, Durst was arrested Saturday night in the J.W. Marriott hotel on the warrant, which was issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. 

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Durst was arrested for the December 2000 murder of Susan Berman, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Berman's body was discovered in her West Los Angeles home on Christmas Eve 2000. Since that time, officers with the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division have been conducting an investigation into her death.

Police say additional evidence recently came to light and investigators have identified Robert Durst as the person responsible for her death.Durst was previously questioned in her murder, but not charged.

Durst appeared in Orleans Magistrate Court Sunday where he was served and signed a subpoena. An extradition hearing will be held Monday, March 16 at 10 a.m. 

Durst went on trial in 2001 for the murder of his neighbor Morris Black, who was found dismembered in a bay in Galveston, Texas. During the trial, Durst admitted to dismembering Black and dumping his remains,but was acquitted on a self-defense claim.

Durst has also been suspected in the 1982 disappearance of his first wife, Kathleen Durst. He was questioned in the investigation, but not charged.

Durst is the subject of the HBO documentary mini series "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst," the last piece of which airs Sunday night.
