Anthony Davis posts near quadruple-double but Pelicans fall to Nuggets

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Anthony Davis had arguably his best NBA game statistically in his young career, Sunday, but it wasn't enough as the New Orleans Pelicans fell to the Denver Nuggets 118-111 in double overtime at the Smoothie King Center.

Davis finished with 36 points, 14 rebounds, nine blocks and seven assists to lead the Pelicans (36-30). Tyreke Evans posted 25 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

The Nuggets (26-41), who have now won four in a row, were led by Will Barton, who recorded 25 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Kenneth Faried had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Sunday's loss is only the third in the last 12 contests for the Pelicans, who played their first game in five days. New Orleans is battling Oklahoma City for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference Standings. With the loss to the Nuggets and the Thunder's win, Sunday,
over the Chicago Bulls, the Pelicans are currently on the outside looking in, sitting one game behind Oklahoma City in the standings.

New Orleans will host the Milwaukee Bucks, Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
