NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - People in New Orleans don't have to look very hard if they're trying to find a drink. Between Bourbon Street, parades, festivals and sporting events, adult beverages flow freely through the streets of the Crescent City. And according to an online job site, New Orleans is one of the easiest cities to grab a cocktail.
CareerBuilider says there are nearly 580,000 bartenders in the U.S., equaling 1.8 per 1,000 residents. 381 cities and metropolitan areas have ratios that exceed the national average. The analysis is based on data from Economic Modeling Specialists Intl., CareerBuilder's labor market analysis division.
New Orleans ranks second on the list with 3.4 bartenders per 1,000 residents. Las Vegas is at the top of the list with 5.5. CareerBuilder says the cities' large tourism industries are a big factor when it comes to the number of bartenders in both cities.
Cities in the Midwest, Great Plains, Pacific Northwest and Northeast tend to have higher ratios than cities in the West, South and Southeast.
